Highlight: Mafalda

When I’m not searching for inventory for my own shop, I still have some favorite vintage stores of my own that carry stunning and amazing pieces.  Mafalda, located in the Boerum Hill section of Brooklyn opened in 2010 but it wasn’t until after reading about it in The Village Voice that I then decided to visit.
With stellar looks to go with an impeccable collection of high end day and evening pieces with normal pricing, owner and buyer Christina Kolbe has hit a mark with Mafalda.   Carrying obscure designers from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s  that have a strong contemporary aspect, Koble has a stylist's eye. A silk  pink and turquoise abstract print dress caught my eye immediately and with just a quick glance in the mirror it was a wrap. Other stellar pieces include a bat wing sequin top, a powder blue boucle wool and silk suit a la Betty Draper. Mafalda has stellar pieces that speak to a fashionable vintage lover. The  next time you’re strolling around the sweet streets of Brooklyn, pop into the shop, you won’t leave empty handed.
