New Year Old Clothes

I kicked off 2015 with an archival piece that I've come about twice in my vintage collection. The first time I came across this bubblegum gum pink Oleg Cassini mid 1980s sequin top was November of 2010 in a warehouse next to a highway and a rubber factory.  It was a great piece and was purchased at a Sip n' Shop in 2011. It is a show stopping piece and although I was sad to see it go, I was happy that it found a new home with a first time vintage shopper.

Fast forward to the Manhattan Vintage Show this year and this top was there and this time, it fit me. I had to have it and there was no way this would ever be sold again, it would go into my archives, also known as the vintage that will never be sold, ever!

This piece can only be worn on New Year's Eve, it is so bright there is no other time when it won't blind anyone. So I pulled it out the archives, threw it on with some jeans and sky high heels and rang in 2015 to Diana Ross' classic Love Hangover.  What did you wear to bring in 2015?

Vintage Shaun Favorite Look Countdown Number Three

This favorite outfit is a two parts. Last year I attended the Stephen Burrows retrospective at the City Museum of New York, I knew I had to wear vintage.  Why, vintage well I don't own any Stephen  Burrows unfortunately and I feel if you attend a designer retrospective you either wear that designer or you go vintage. So while entering the event, I was snapped by Essence magazine. They loved the circa 1980s Givenchy coat, and inside, I mixed another 1980s piece, a silk animal print blouse with a contemporary skirt.  Loved  this look which mixed festive with cocktail and gala, I was neither under dressed nor overdressed just the perfect combination.
